Summary
Oral Bible Translation (OBT) is meeting the needs of oral communities worldwide, ensuring that the Scriptures are accessible in culturally relevant forms. Yet, in Latin America, comparatively few OBT projects have been initiated. This is despite the presence of many oral-preference communities and strong traditions of storytelling.
OBT projects worldwide have shown the effectiveness of training translators directly in oral methods, and a curriculum for OBT training has already been completed at the global level. This project seeks to support a Training of Trainers (ToT) workshop in Latin America to empower local leaders, practitioners, and consultants-in-training with the skills, methodology and confidence to multiply OBT initiatives. By investing in the development of local trainers, OBT efforts in Latin America can move toward greater sustainability.
