Global Coffee Chat
The Global Coffee Chat provides an opportunity for leaders of Alliance organisations to meet virtually and discuss topics related to Bible translation.
Our first gathering took place in April 2026. After a brief welcome from Agnes Lid, the Wycliffe Global Alliance’s interim Executive Director, Bryan Harmelink led the group in a biblical reflection on collaboration in the kingdom of God. Then, David Cardenas reminded us of the importance of coffee (or tea) to informal social gatherings. (See videos below. For translations, open the video in YouTube and used their closed caption/subtitles)
The 52 participants moved into small groups for discussion of the main theme, the church in Bible translation. All had been encouraged beforehand to consider:
- What would you like to learn from other countries or regions represented here about the church in Bible translation?
- Do you have stories/testimonies about what God is doing through your organisation that you could share in two or three minutes? Or needs/frustrations on the topic of the church in BT?
- Ask questions of each other comment about what you have heard.
Though brief, the discussion time allowed leaders to spend time with people outside of their regions who they may not have known so well, and hear various insights on the church’s participation in Bible translation.
